| | | | | | | | SCLL Phillies WIN the CBI Championship!!! | | | posted 04/03/2012 SCLL Phillies Champs at the Clay Berry Invitational!!!
Congrats to Coach De Luca and the Phillies for winning the CBI tournament. It was a great game to watch and taking the lead in the top of the 6th was exciting!!!
Earlier news . . .
The Phillies won their first game Saturday April 1, 12 - 1 in 4 innings over Murphy Canyon. Jordon Doole pitched all four innings and Chris Ringland hit a three Run Home run about 300 ft. (Note: home run was added to the SCLL Home Run Club!).
Their second game at 7:30 pm against the Mission Trails Angels was a little more unusual. . . it was stopped because of rain in the 4th inning tied 4-4. Alec Espinosa pitched a no hitter for 3 1/3 inning before the game was delayed for 30 minutes and then continued. Charlie Rascon had a single to score two runs in the top of the 2nd to give our Phillies a 3 - 0 lead. Hunter Johnston lead off the 3rd with a single and scored on a passed ball to give them a 4 – 0 lead in the 3rd!
Due to rain, the games were moved from the West Regional Field to the Murphy Canyon Santos Field at 3:00 pm on Sunday. In the top of the 6th, Chas Parada walked with 1 out and then Alec Espinosa came up with two outs and reached on a dropped third strike. The catcher tried to throw him out at first and hit him in the top of the helmet and the ball catapulted into right field which scored Chas, and Alec advanced to 3rd. Preston De Luca then came up next and doubled to center scoring Alec. Chris Ringland was next with two strikes he hit a bomb (another one for the HR Club!) to give the Phillies an 8- 4 Lead. Chris struck out 3 of the 6 batters he faced in 2 innings of work to preserve the victory 8-5.
