SCLL 11-12 All Star Game #1 - June 23, 2013
The boys from San Carlos’s 11-12 All Star team took on the visiting team from North Park and walked away with a 13-0 in four innings on Sunday, June 25, 2013! The game featured terrific shutout pitching and three big blasts, one of them into the Minors' field. The staff at the snackbar was left with little to do as this game was over in about an hour!
Home runs for SCLL came when Jonathan Marshall homered in the first inning, In the second inning, two more were sent into the souvenir shop when Nick Linden homered and was followed soon thereafter by JT Penick.
Ryan Quasarano got the win for SCLL. He tossed three innings of shutout ball. He struck out five, walked one and surrendered three hits. JT finished with a shutout fourth inning and the game was over. SCLL moves to game two next Tuesday against their rivals from Allied Gardens.
SCLL 11-12 All Star Game #2 - June 25, 2013
SCLL’s 11-12 team looked flat on Tuesday night at the lake! Where was the energy they showed in Game #1? Defensive lapses in the field by SCLL, combined with a determined Allied Gardens team with something to prove resulted in a two run deficit after the first half inning. It wasn't lookimg good . . . then the second inning happened! They came back strong and out up some big numbers!
Who was the standout performer of the game? Adam Becker! Our starting pitcher was removed as a precaution, and in stepped Adam for a really long relief appearance. Adam put together a nice outing; he gave up just three hits, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out five during his 3 1/3 innings of work! Did he stop there? Nope! At the plate, Adam racked up three RBIs on three hits. He doubled in the second inning, homered in the third inning, and singled in the fourth inning. Great game kid!
Let’s get back to the rest of the game . . . Jarred Peloquin starts the top of the second with a single; JT Penick gets hit with a pitch (“we got ice!!”) and then Adam doubles him home. Ryan Quasarano drives in a run with an RBI single, followed by Jonathan Marshall’s RBI single and then Keith Davis beats out an infield single. Terrific baseball was being played with runners being moved over and scoring!
AG threatened again in the bottom of the second but with runners at second and third Adam came through with a strikeout and the inning was saved by a uniform-getting-stained diving catch by Jarred!
San Carlos built upon its lead with five runs in the third. Adam started the inning with a two-run home run, bringing home JT. That was followed up by Keith’s two-run blast, scoring Jack Sothras. Top of the third, JT walked and Adam hits his homer for a 6 to 2 lead. Andrew McAlpin comes to the plate and hits a solid single; then Jack with a hit up the middle. After a double play by AG, there was still a runner on, and it was Keith who hit one out . . . umm, that would be wayyyy out! Tomas Gagliano walked and then a laser shot double to left center by Brian Kessler drives Tomas home.
Adam again shuts down the hitters from AG, and it’s 9 to 0 after three full innings of play. Top of the 4th and a couple more runs and the final score was 12 to 2! SCLL has won two games and so we’ll see you on Saturday.

MINORS DISTRICT TOC GAME 1 San Carlos Backyard Bombers 17 - Rolando Bad News Padres 6
The first inning was over before the Backyard Bombers knew what hit them. They were down 5- 0 after 1 inning. But the Backyard Bombers answered back in the top of the 2nd with a leadoff double by Daniel Roddenberry ( that I swear hit over the yellow line on the center field scoreboard) then an inside-the-parker by Jake Dougherty and before you know it, the score was 5 - 5. A inside-the-parker by Christian Romero and a bunt by Andrew Gordon that ended up an inside-the-parker and the backyard Bombers were on their way to a 17- 6 win.
Behind the pitching of Peyton De Luca, who started the game then settled in and pitched a scoreless 2nd, 3rd, 4th and one out in the fifth before Daniel Roddenbery came in to mow them down and preserve the win. (Reported by Coach Pete; photos by Jenn Osborn).
Plenty of drama at Closing Day 2013. All three divisions were playing their Championship game! There was a game tying three-run home run on the Majors field; a GRAND SLAM on the Minors field, the 12 year old players’ last lap at SCLL; and the crowning of the TOC Champions!
